The History of the Town Hall Players
For several months, in the late 1990's, Jeff Boyer and Jo Mayer discussed the idea of a community theater group for the Stockbridge area.
In September 2000, the first "organized" meeting was called and about 12 people attended. Some of the original group members include Jeff Boyer, Jo Mayer, Lauren Auge, Andy Beebe,Terri Beebe Becky Fahmie, Joy Fahmie, Aaron Grenier, and Joann Moore. The Town Hall Players were born!!!
It took only four meetings to create a name for the group, find a script for the first production, plan auditions, and find a theater. Our first production was the classic Cheaper by the Dozen which opened in May of 2001 at the historic Stockbridge Town Hall.
Membership:
By definition, a member of the Town hall Players is anyone who has attended at least one meeting, or participated in at least one production, and has paid their dues.
Volunteers:
The Town Hall Players depend greatly on volunteers. Volunteers accomplish everything: the performers, musicians, backstage crews, choreographers, ushers, clerical staff, set builders and everyone else involved in a production.
We are constantly looking for more people to help. Town Hall Players also serve in all aspects of technical and artistic publicity, fiscal management, planning, special events, fund raising and show development. Volunteerism is the backbone of our community theatre group. Many volunteer opportunities are available for on and off stage participation.
